Soccer: Di Biagio replaces Mangia as Italy Under-21 coach

Rome, July 2 - Former Italy, AS Roma and Inter Milan midfielder Luigi Di Biagio has replaced Devis Mangia as the coach of the Under-21 national team, the Italian Soccer Federation (FIGC) announced on Tuesday. Last month Mangia led the 'Azzurrini' to the final of the European Under-21 championship in Israel, where they lost 4-2 to Spain. Former Palermo boss Mangia, who had been in charge of Italy's Under-21 team since last year, had been offered a contract extension by the FIGC but he decided he wanted to return to club football. Di Biagio, who won 31 Italy caps and played at the 1998 and 2002 World Cups and Euro 2000, has been promoted from his position at the helm of the Italian Under-20 national team. photo: Luigi Di Biagio
