Italian president says 'innovative' economic stimulus needed

Rome, July 2 - More foreign investment is needed to stimulate the suffering Italian economy, President Giorgio Napolitano said on Tuesday. In a message to the president of the country's powerful employers' association Confindustria, Giorgio Squinzi, the head of state said that an influx of investments is "crucial to give an innovative stimulus to economic recovery and employment," pointing out that the public administration should promote policies to attract investors. Italy is struggling under its longest recession in over 20 years.
