Juve look set to appeal against revenue split with Lazio

Soccer: Italian Super Cup to take place in Rome, Aug 18

Rome, June 27 - The traditional curtain-raiser to the Italian soccer season, the Super Cup between the Serie A champions and the Italian Cup winners, will be played at Rome's Stadio Olimpico on August 18, a meeting of the League of top-flight clubs decided Thursday. The venue for the match had been a source of tension after League champions Juventus vetoed the plans for the Super Cup to be played at the Beijing National Stadium, where it has been held for three of the last four years. The chairman of Cup-winners Lazio, Claudio Lotito, recently threatened to sue Juve for damages over their refusal to have the match held in China. On Thursday the League decided that Lazio would be guaranteed a minimum of the takings from the match that is equivalent to what they would have earned if it were played in Beijing. The League decided that it will keep 10% of any surplus on top of this, with the rest split equally between Lazio and Juve Chinese organisers had guaranteed total revenues of 3.3 million euros. Sources at Juve said the Turin club would appeal against this way of splitting the revenues.
