Body of German climber lost in April 1 avalanche found

Bolzano, June 25 - The body of a 32-year old German climber, buried by an avalanche on the day after Easter, surfaced on Tuesday in the Italian alps near the Swiss border. Munich resident Christoph Remeny and three other mountain-climbers were struck by an avalanche on an alpine sojourn roughly 50 kilometers from the ski resort Bormio on April 1. The body was discovered at an altitude of 2,100 meters at the foot of the Ortler peak. It only surfaced now, in late June, due to unusually heavy seasonal snows that kept it hidden.
