Italian spread climbs above 300 points, Milan down 0.93%

Milan, June 24 - The Milan Ftse-Mib index lost 0.93% to close at 15,112 points and the spread between the 10-year Italian bond and the German benchmark climbed to 300 points on Monday for the first time since April 18, with a yield of 4.82%. The spread, which closed at 301, is a key measure of Italy's borrowing costs and of investor confidence in the country. Markets closed down elsewhere in Europe as well, with the London Ftse-100 losing 1.42% to close at 6,029 points and the Paris CAC 40 index shedding 1.71% to close at 3,595.63. In Frankfurt, the DAX index fell by 1.24% to 7,692.45 points and in Madrid, the IBEX 35 index closed down 1.91% at 7,553.20 points.
