Councillor indicted for instigating racist sex crimes

Padua, June 24 - Prosecutors on Monday indicted local councillor Dolores Valandro on charges of instigation to commit racist sex crimes, sources said. Valandro, formerly of the anti-immigrant Northern League, attacked Italy's first black cabinet member by calling for Integration Minister Cecile Kyenge to be raped in a June 13 Facebook post. ''(Why) doesn't anyone ever rape her in order (for her) to understand what the victim of this heinous crime feels like?'' Valandro, a councillor for a Padua district, said on her Facebook page under a photo of Kyenge. Valandro has since been expelled from the Northern League and will appear in court July 1.
