Plane missing with Italian tourists since 2008 found

Caracas, June 20 - A double-engine plane carrying 14 passengers, eight of them Italian tourists, that disappeared in 2008 off the coast of Venezuela has been found, local authorities announced on Thursday. The chartered flight was 20 minutes in route towards the popular tourist destination of Los Roques on January 4 that year when the pilot called for help. To date, the only body recovered from the accident was the co-pilot, who most likely was thrown or ejected from the plane before it crashed into the water. The Let 410-YV-2081 run by the private company Transven was found "nine kilometers south of Los Roques and 970 metres underwater," the Venezuelan Interior Minister Miguel Rodriguez Torres said. The bodies of Stefano Frangione, Fabiola Napoli, Paola Durante, Bruna Guarnieri and her daughters Sofia and Emma, Rita Calanni and Annalisa Montanari are believed to be in the plane together with the five other Venezuelans and a Swiss tourist. On January 4, 2013 a plane on the same route carrying Italian fashion chief Vittorio Missoni, his wife Maurizia Castiglioni and four others went missing and has yet to be recovered.
