Milan, June 18 - Eataly has become a partner in Milan's Expo 2015 and will have its own space within the exhibition site, organizers of the international event announced Tuesday. "The colours and flavors of Eataly will fit with Expo Milan 2015," said organizers. Eataly's commitment to authentic Italian food production and culture will help to showcase the nation's best products, organizers added. Eataly is a high-end Italian food market which first opened in Turin in January 2007. Founded by Oscar Farinetti, an entrepreneur formerly involved in the consumer electronics business, Eataly is also sponsored by Slow Food. Farinetti and his associates own about 60%, with other shares owned by some cooperatives of Italian retailer COOP Group. Eataly also has opened outlets in Bologna, Rome, and New York City. Expo 2015, the international exposition, will open on May 1, 2015 and continue through October 31, 2015. Its main focus will be on environmental issues and fighting hunger under the theme 'Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life'. However, Italy's Foreign Minister Emma Bonino has said that Expo 2015 should also be a forum for bringing together cultures from a variety of countries. And in this way Milan, as a "friendly, cosmopolitan city", is the perfect location for the "festival of integration" that will be Expo 2015, she has said.
