Rome, June 17 - Italian exports were flat in April with respect to March, while imports fell 0.9%, Istat said on Monday. But the national statistics agency also had some good news for the recession-ravaged Italian economy as it noted that this level of exports represented a 4.4% increase on April 2012. It said imports were down 2.6% in April on the same month last year. It added that April's balance of trade amounted to a surplus of 1.9 billion euros, compared to a trade deficit of 0.3 billion euros in April 2012.
