Marchionne reiterates Fiat won't close any Italian plants

(see related) Florence, June 13 - Fiat Group Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne reiterated on Thursday that Fiat would not close any Italian manufacturing plants. "The most rational choice would be to close one or two plants in Italy" in order to "confront production overcapacity," said Marchionne, who is in the Tuscan capital for a meeting of the Florentine chapter of the national industry group Confindustria. "We have instead said - and I repeat - that we will not close any plants in Italy. We have always managed our freedom with a conscience," he said.
