Rate rises at 3-year Italian bond auction

Rome, June 13 - The rate on three-year Italian State bonds climbed sharply at a Treasury auction on Thursday. The Treasury sold 3.42 billion euros worth of BTP bonds set to mature in May 2016, just below the maximum of 3.5 billion it was willing to put on the market, at an average interest rate of 2.38%, up from 1.92% at an equivalent sale last month. The Treasury also sold 1.5 billion euros worth of 15-year bonds at an average interest rate of 4.67%, down 0.01% on the last auction.
