(updates previous) Rome, June 12 - Police believe that a man shot in the neck and killed in broad daylight Wednesday in Rome was the victim of gang violence. The 18-year-old man was shot with a pistol in the San Basilio neighborhood at approximately 6 pm local time. Another man, 25, is hospitalized with knife wounds to his face. Ambulance drivers were attacked by an angry mob when they arrived on the scene, police said. One driver suffered a fracture to his shoulder. However, the rescue team managed to load both the 18-year-old and 25-year-old and transport them to a hospital. The shooting victim was pronounced dead on arrival. The shooting was most likely preceded by an argument, police said.
