Teachers in Vicenza arrested for threatening student

Video of teachers abusing student with autism on website

Vicenza, June 7 - Shocking video that apparently shows teachers abusing a student who has autism was transmitted Friday on the website of a regional newspaper. The video, showing the adults slapping a student and calling him an "animal" and a "pig", appeared on the site of the website of the Corriere del Veneto. The newspaper suggests that investigators secretly taped the abuse as part of a case that led to the arrest on April 8 of two adults on charges of violence against an autistic child. Adults are heard threatening to break the student's head with a stick. Investigations that began in March filmed "intolerable and violent methods" carried out "10 to 15 times daily" against the boy, police said at the time of the arrests of two women in the case. The boy's parents filed a complaint with police after their son repeatedly returned home from school with unexplained injuries. Police confiscated wooden sticks, a ruler and scissors that were reportedly used as tools for punishment. Police said at the time that the video surveillance recorded the women carrying out numerous episodes of physical and verbal abuse without any "apparent logic or reasoning".
