Copper heist creates delays for Milan-Bologna trains

Milan, June 6 - The theft of copper cables from a tract of railway southeast of Milan created delays of up to an hour for 34 high-speed trains on the Milan-Bologna line on Thursday. Italy's national rail service reported that the cables were stripped from security systems between Milan Rogoredo and Melegnano at about 6:00am local time on Thursday. The system failure drew immediate attention from emergency workers, who replaced the missing materials in the system by midday. Train operation was slowed, but not stopped, as a safety precaution.
