Rome, June 6 - Italy recovered 12.5 billion euros from tax evaders in 2012, the country's inland revenue agency said Thursday. "(An additional) 10 billion were prevented from attempted evasion," said Attilio Befera, inland revenue director, before the House Finance Commission. Slightly more, 12.7 billion, was retrieved in 2011. "Much has been done to fight tax dodging, but much remains to be done," added Befera. The department of finance reported Wednesday that in the first four months of 2013, revenues collected from tax cheats was up roughly 5% compared with the same period last year.
