Real estate, assets seized in first quarter reach 2,589

Rome, June 5 - Real estate properties and assets seized in the first quarter of 2013 by tax collection agency Equitalia for unpaid taxes were 2,589 compared to the 5,222 seized throughout 2012, according to Treasury data handed over to the Lower Houses' finance commission. From January to April, 733 real estate properties were seized, 28,3% of the total. Equitalia said a further 367 homes would be seized by June 30 throughout Italy, except Sicily which has its own tax collector.
