Prosecutors request prison terms for Dolce, Gabbana

(see previous)Milan, May 29 - Milan prosecutors on Wednesday requested that Italian fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana be sentenced to two and a half years in jail for alleged tax fraud. The creators of the world-famous Dolce & Gabbana brand are accused of being involved in tax evasion of around one billion euros. The two were indicted in June 2012 when prosecutors claimed the fashion duo, with six others, evaded taxes for several years after setting up the front company Gado in Luxembourg. "They are the ones who have most benefited from this operation" prosecutors said on Wednesday. "Gado was an artificial construction with the specific function of obtaining tax benefits," prosecutors said. Prosecutors also requested a three-year sentence for the duo's accountant, Luciano Patelli, who they said was in "complete agreement" with the evasion.
