Sicilian astronaut Parmitano docks at space station

Rome, May 29 - Astronaut Luca Parmitano docked at the International Space Station (ISS) on Wednesday to start a six-month mission in which the 37-year-old will become the first Italian to go on a spacewalk. Parmitano was among three people who travelled on the Soyuz TMA-09M spacecraft to the ISS, along with Russian cosmonaut Fyodor Yurchikhin and American Karen Nyberg. The trio's arrival took the space station's crew up to six, as three people were already aboard the ISS - NASA's Chris Cassidy, Russian Commander Pavel Vinogradov and his compatriot Alexander Misurkin.
