Italian pop icon Little Tony dead at 72

Rome, May 28 - The Italian pop icon Little Tony is dead after a battle with bone cancer, the singer's agent said on Tuesday. He was 72 years old. In 1957, Antonio Ciacci formed a rock-and-roll group with his two brothers, Alberto and Enrico, and took the name Little Tony in emulation of Little Richard. Little Tony achieved success in Britain with the single 'I Can't Help It' then went on, together with his brothers, to record the hit 'Too Good' that reached 19 on the UK singles chart in 1960. "Little Tony was the soundtrack of Italian pop since I can remember. With his passing, a whole world disappears," Italian veteran showman Renzo Arbore said on Tuesday.
