Milan exchange edges up after Thursday drop

Market jitters ease at Friday's opening

Milan, May 24 - European markets breathed a sigh of relief at opening on Friday after a jittery Thursday triggered by grim manufacturing data from Asia. Following a 3% drop in Italy's FTSE MIB index to 17,008 points on Thursday, Milan saw a +0.76 recovery after Friday's opening. The yield spread between 10-year Italian bonds and the German benchmark equivalent changed little, rising slightly to 261 compared to Thursday's close at 259.
