Police seize 50 million euros in assets from mafia raids

Vibo Valentia, May 23 - At least 20 arrests were made and 40 million euros in property seized in raids across central and southern Italy Thursday against the 'Ndrangheta mafia. Police from the regions of Calabria, Lombardy, Lazio and Emilia-Romagna were involved in the operation against the Mancuso clan of Limbadi that included the arrest of several entrepreneurs. According to police, search and arrest warrants were issued against 19 companies and 25 individuals, as well as seizures of 45 properties including land, buildings and apartments. Two bars in the centre of Rome were also seized as part of the operation. In a separate operation, goods worth 10 million euros were seized as police cracked down on an 'Ndrangheta gang based in Reggio Calabria.
