Italian-German bond spread hovers at 252 basis points

Rome, May 21 - The spread between Italian and German 10-year bonds opened trading on Tuesday at 252 basis points, precisely in line with Monday's closing. The spread between lending rates in the two countries, considered an indication of investor faith in the Italian economy and its ability to cope with a lingering recession, has varied only slightly from last Friday's close of 257 basis points. Tuesday's yield on 10-year Treasury bonds opened at 3.89%, the same as Monday's closing.
