Soccer: Not all taunts on black players racist, says min

(see related stories) Turin, May 20 - Integration Minister Cecile Kyenge said Monday that not all taunts directed at black players were of a racist nature, amid a storm over the abuse AC Milan and Italy forward Mario Balotelli has been a victim of. "It's necessary to be lucid to understand when we are talking about racism, when it is about sport or a defeat, and when there are other reasons," Congo-born Kyenge, who has been hit by racist abuse after becoming Italy's first black minister last month, said at the Turin book fair. AS Roma were fined 50,000 euros last week after their 0-0 draw with Milan at the San Siro was briefly suspended due to abuse their fans directed at Balotelli and other black players. Some Roma fans denied allegations they made monkey chants, saying they simply booed Balotelli.
