Two buildings evacuated following landslide near Lecco

(ANSA) – Lecco, May 17 – Two buildings in which 80 people live were evacuated on Friday as a precaution following a nearby landslide and the resulting debris that spilled over onto the Lecco-Bergamo railway track in the Levata neighbourhood of Monte Marenzo, in Lecco. The landslide follows days of heavy rainfall and difficult weather conditions which have also caused damage in the nearby towns of Valgreghentino and Villa Vergano di Galbiate in northern Italy. The north of the country has been suffering heavy rains and floods in the past days, killing at least one person and causing hundreds of millions of euros in damage.
