Saccomanni 'does not want to be defined by cuts'

Sarteano, May 13 - Italian Economy Minister Fabrizio Saccomanni told fellow members of the left-right administration that he did not want to be defined by austerity, according to ministry sources Monday. "He told us he did not want to be the 'cuts' minister, and asked us to work with him to find the resources needed to bring about the government's agenda," the source, who asked to remain anonymous, said. Saccomanni, the former director-general of the Bank of Italy, was reportedly addressing members of the cabinet during a 24-hour bonding and planning 'retreat' in a Tuscan abbey over the weekend.
