Italian bond spread falls below 310 points

Rome, April 8 - The spread between the 10-year Italian bond and the German benchmark fell below the 310-basis-points mark in early trading Monday, despite the continuation of Italy's political deadlock after February's inconclusive general election. The spread, a key measure of investor confidence and of Italy's borrowing costs, dropped to 309 points with a yield of 4.31% after closing at 317 points on Friday. The Milan stock exchange also made a positive start to the week. The benchmark FTSE Mib index climbed 1.17% in a little more than an hour of trading.
