Minute's silence for Andreotti at sporting events

Rome, May 6 - There will be a minute's silence at all Italian sporting events this week to commemorate former Christian Democrat statesman Giulio Andreotti who died Monday aged 94. The head of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), Giovanni Malago', recalled that seven-time prtemier Andreotti headed the 1960 Rome Olympics organising committee. Flags around the headquarters of CONI - which controls all sports in Italy - were lowered to half-mast at the Foro Italico sports area in Rome. Andreotti was a famously devoted and life-long fan of Rome soccer team AS Roma.
