Campania waste-trafficking racket busted, 32 arrested

Naples, May 6 - Thirty-two arrests were made at dawn on Monday in relation to a probe into illegal waste-trafficking in the southern Italian region of Campania. The probe by the local anti-mafia department concerned the trade in discarded textiles and clothing. The clothing was sold in a street market in Resina, a town located south of Naples. Police also seized assets worth more than 10 million euros, including businesses and vehicles. The paramilitary Carabinieri police of Caserta, a city north of Naples, carried out the arrests. Defendants face charges of racketeering related to waste trafficking.
