Kourou, May 3 - A final round of technical tests have been carried out successfully on Europe's new small satellite launcher Vega, which is scheduled to lift off three satellites in French Guiana at 23:06 local time on Friday (03:06 GMT Saturday). The checks received the green light from a group of technicians responsible for the launch, and the countdown is expected to start at 12.21 GMT. The Vega is a satellite launcher that was built in the Avio factory in Colleferro on the outskirts of Rome. Vega will launch three satellites, which are tasked with collecting data on land cover and vegetation changes over the entire globe every couple of days. The European Space Agency (ESA) mission is Vega's second. The first took place on February 13, 2012.
