Kyenge says feels 'protected' from attacks

Rome, May 3 - Italy's first black minister said Friday she felt "quite safeguarded" after attacks from the anti-immigrant Northern League and anonymous racists but would have liked to see a public show of support from Italians. "There has been support from the premier (Enrico Letta) and all the members of the government. Public support should have come out too, of course, but I feel quite safeguarded about the solidarity regarding these attacks," said Cecile Kyenge, a Congo native named integration minister in Letta's new right-left government.
