Rome, April 30 – Rome prosecutors have asked for 18 people including former civil protection chief Guido Bertolaso, businessman Diego Anemone, and former head of the state public works office Angelo Balducci, to be tried in relation to a probe investigating illegalities in a G8 summit tender bids. Their main accusation relates to allegations of corruption, as they contend Bertolaso may have favoured Anemone over other bidders without having valid reasons to do so. The investigation initially began in Florence in 2010, and after an initial transfer to Perugia the probe was finally assigned to Rome prosecutors.
