Police find 764 'irregularities' in Italy health services

Rome, April 23 - A special unit of Italy's Carabinieri police on Tuesday said it had uncovered 764 cases of "irregularities" in Italian health services in the first quarter of 2013, including cases of unlicensed orthodontists. In their report, the Carabinieri unit said they had also found many cases of doctors who practice both in private and public institutions who did not respect their schedules at public institutions. The Carabinieri carried out some 4,000 inspections in the period which led to some 1,000 reports to judicial authorities and two arrests, as well as asset seizures worth some 70 million euros.
