Labor minister signs third decree for uncovered pensioners

Rome, April 23 - Outgoing Labour Minister Elsa Fornero on Tuesday signed a decree created to help compensate retirees bereft of their pension payments due to changes in the country's retirement rules under the technocrat administration of Premier Mario Monti. The so-called 'esodati' or 'exiled ones' who took early retirement but have so far received no benefits were numbered at 390,000 last year by the pension agency INPS, although the labor minister hotly disputed that figure. Part of the November House budget committee amendment, the decree provides for another 10,130 people on top of the Labor Ministry's previously foreseen 120,000. The amendments were tacked onto the 2013 budget.
