Rome, April 22 - Italian President Giorgio Napolitano said he would stay in office during his second term "for as long as necessary" to shepherd much-needed reforms. He told parliament he was aware that a second term was "exceptional" and stressed "this repeat will go on as long as it takes". There has been speculation Napolitano may step down after the work of a broad-based reform government has been completed, in a year or so.
