5-Star Movement may expel Senator over TV appearances

Marino Mastrangeli 'violated M5S code of parliamentary conduct'

5-Star Movement may expel Senator over TV appearances

Rome, April 17 - The Senate whip for the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S) of comedian Beppe Grillo on Wednesday proposed kicking one of its Senators out of the party for appearing on an Italian television news show. The proposed expulsion was in response to Senator Marino Mastrangeli who appeared as a guest on a show hosted by actress Barbara D'Urso. Grillo, an outspoken opponent of the traditional Italian press, issued a media ban to his party politicians last year. "The (expulsion) proposal will follow the standard procedure of the M5S code of parliamentary conduct," said Senate Whip Vito Crimi, who went on to criticize the Senator for making "countless" appearances on the show while other M5S MPs "were busy at work".
