Italian Church calls political deadlock 'unacceptable'

Genoa, April 16 - The head of the Italian bishops conference, Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, on Tuesday blasted the country's political leaders for failing to reach an agreement to form a new government after February's inconclusive general election. "This impasse is incomprehensible and unacceptable," said Bagnasco, the archbishop of Genoa. "The country absolutely needs a government, a good stable government, both for the country's internal dynamics and for its image abroad".
