(ANSA) – Siena, April 10 – David Rossi, the communications chief of troubled Monte dei Paschi di Siena (MPS) who allegedly committed suicide last month by throwing himself out of a window at the bank's headquarters in Tuscany, tried to slash his wrists before jumping, sources close to the investigation said Wednesday. MPS is currently mired in a fraud and corruption scandal in which Italy's third-biggest lender is accused of covering up losses tied to derivatives trades worth hundreds of millions of euros. Rossi himself was not being probed.
