5-Star Movement will vote for Italian president online

'Decision won't be made in secrecy' says Grillo

5-Star Movement will vote for Italian president online

Rome, April 10 - Italy's anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S) has asked members to select the party's candidate for president via an online vote, its founder, the comedian-turned-politician Beppe Grillo, said Wednesday. "The name of the candidate for president that the M5S intends to propose will not be chosen in secret rooms, but will be voted for online starting tomorrow," Grillo posted on his blog. The seven-year term of President Giorgio Napolitano comes to an end in May. His successor will be determined by a vote next week by members of parliament and 58 regional electors. "The chosen name (from the online ballot) will be the one that the M5S votes for in parliament," said Grillo.
