Publishers' chief appeals to future govt for digital help

Rome, April 10 - The chairman of Italy's newspaper publishers' association FIEG on Wednesday called on the leaders of Italy's still-to-be-named government to help the industry continue its transition from print to digital. "The path is towards integration without losing sight of quality," said Giulio Anselmi, who is also the chairman of ANSA, at a conference in Rome devoted to bridging digital and print media. "I have only one concern, which is to have a government that considers information to be in the common good". For over 40 days, Italy has been without a government following inconclusive elections in late February that led to parliamentary gridlock, and the make-up of the future government remains unclear.
