Rome, April 10 - The average interest rate on three-month Italian bonds dropped to a record low of 0.243% at a Treasury auction on Wednesday. The rate was 0.765% at the last equivalent sale in October. The Treasury sold all of the three billion euros worth of three-month BOT bonds it put up for sale. The yield on 12-month BOTs also fell, despite the political deadlock Italy has endured since February's inconclusive general election. The Treasury sold eight billion euros worth of one-year BOTs at an average interest rate of 0.922%, compared to 1.280% in a March auction.
