Bolzano, April 9 - The Dalai Lama on Tuesday arrived in this northeastern town near the border with Austria to receive a special prize for his continuing efforts to defend the Tibetan minority in China. On Wednesday, the Dalai Lama will be awarded the Alto Adige minorities prize by the president of the Bolzano provincial government, Luis Durnwalder. "We are very proud to be able to host the Dalai Lama in Bolzano and we are honored that he accepted our invitation and that he came in person to receive the prize," Durnwalder said Tuesday. The Dalai Lama is arriving in Italy from Munich. "The minorities prize is intended to represent a small sign of recognition on the part of Alto Adige's institutions and people of the Dalai Lama's untiring and peaceful commitment to the Tibetan cause."
