Confindustria calls for simpler govt reimbursement methods

Plan to free 40 billion euros 'unworkable'

Confindustria calls for simpler govt reimbursement methods

Rome, April 9 - The process for businesses to claim 40 billion euros in long outstanding government payments is too complicated and must be revised, Italy's big-business organization said Tuesday. The decree unlocking the payments "is a very important measure," but it's too complex, Marcella Panucci, director-general of Confindustria, said in an interview on Italy's Channel 5. Problems are created by the many layers of bureaucracies involved between different levels of government, said Panucci. Confindustria has proposed simplified procedures, "and we hope that Parliament accepts these corrections... the priority is to ensure that the money arrives immediately to enterprises, since the situation in the real economy is dramatic and we can not wait".
