No-clerk hotels to open in Italy

Rome, April 8 - Several Italian hotels will be going tech-savvy and giving up the personal touch of a check-in clerk in a push for cheaper, more efficient operations. Sillks International Hotel Group will open four structures - Park Silks Resort in the mountain resort town of Vignola, one on the island of Sardinia on the exclusive Costa Smeralda (Emerald Coast), a hotel and spa in the Ligurian resort Alassio and one in the Sicilian city of Messina, the group said on Monday. All of the hotels will allow guests to check in and out using an automated system and be free of personnel, except in the case of emergency. The group expects to have another 50 hotels throughout Italy by 2020.
