Temp workers pick up litter along Naples coast in protest

Naples, April 5 - A group of 200 temp workers picked up litter and sorted it out for recycling along the coast of Naples Friday to protest poor labor conditions in the country. Taking advantage of the upcoming America's Cup World Series yacht race in Naples, the protesters held up a banner that read "American'scapp," a play on words in Italian telling the high-profile event it was best to leave the area. "Unemployment and unrest are still here," read the rest of the banner. Temporary employment has been a growing phenomenon in recent years, especially amid the European sovereign-debt crisis, as the number of full-time posts has declined, especially for young people.
