Marine turtles rescued in Salerno Gulf

Naples, April 5 - Two marine turtles were rescued from fishermen's nets in the southern Gulf of Salerno on Friday after wildlife workers were called to help free them. The animals, a male and female named Mare and Rosa by volunteers, are both adults, conservation group Tartanet said. Volunteer workers from Tartanet and M.A.R.E. conservation groups rescued 15 turtles in the Bay of Naples and Gulf of Salerno areas over the winter. The sea animals are kept under observation, and if need be treated, in the Naples Marine Park before being released back into their natural habitat, Tartanet said.
