Buenos Aires, April 4 - Pope Francis has sent a letter of comfort and consolation to the victims of flash flooding in Argentina, the Catholic Church has said. The letter, addressed to the families of victims in the pope's homeland and delivered via the Archbishop of Buenos Aires Mario Poli, included the pope's blessing. More than 50 people are reported to have been killed in the flash floods caused by heavy rains, and many more have been forced from their homes. Francis also said he felt "profound sadness at the news of the serious damage caused by torrential rains in recent days". The pope, who is former archbishop of Buenos Aires, added that he hoped a spirit of good will and Christian solidarity would help speed rescue and recovery efforts.
