Sydney, April 3 - Award-winning Australian actress Cate Blanchett is the new face of Giorgio Armani perfumes, the Sydney Morning Herald reported Wednesday. The 8.3-million-euro contract comes almost a decade after the star of stage and screen promoted the range of SK-II skin-care products for Procter & Gamble in 2004. Blanchett has long been a muse of the Italian stylist, who once described her as "embodying the woman I design for". She often wears his clothes. Armani was also one of the patrons of the Sydney Theatre Company when Blanchett and her stage director husband Andrew Upton were at the helm. Blanchett rose to fame with her performance as Elizabeth I of England in the 1998 film Elizabeth, which won her BAFTA and Golden Globe awards, as well as earned her first Oscar nomination for best actress. Since then she has featured in numerous films including Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Martin Scorsese's The Aviator. The Armani advertising campaign is due to get underway over the next few months.
