But Conte not giving up hope of reversing 2-0 deficit

Soccer: Juve have 'long way to go' to match likes of Bayern

Rome, April 3 - Coach Antonio Conte has admitted Juventus still have a long way to go to regain their position among European soccer's elite after Tuesday's 2-0 defeat at Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-final first leg. "We were facing a great team, there's nothing new there, one of the favourites to lift the trophy," said Conte, whose side were comprehensively outplayed in Bavaria and were perhaps lucky not to lose by more. "Physically they're very strong, they were tough in the tackle and fired up after losing last year's final (to Chelsea in Munich). "Games like this can only help us grow and realise that we still have some way to go before we're on a par with Europe's top sides. "Bayern spent 48 million euros just on (Spanish midfielder Javi) Martinez last summer. That's unthinkable for us". Nevertheless, Conte has not abandoned all hope of seeing the Italian champions reverse the result to reach the last four. "Football is full of surprises and we won't lie down till it's over," said the coach, whose side need to win next week's second leg in Turin win by three goals.
