White House not commenting on Italy deadlock

(see related stories) New York, March 29 - The White House on Friday refused to comment on the political deadlock in Rome, while stressing that the United States considered Italy's fate to be important for the whole world. "At this point we are not commenting," White House spokesman Josh Earnest said. "We let the Italians decide what they think is appropriate for the leadership of their country". When asked whether Italy's state of health was important for the US and for the global economy, Earnest replied: "it is". Some experts have expressed concern that political uncertainly in Italy could contribute to reigniting the eurozone crisis.
