Four in five Italian 15-year-olds consume alcohol

(ANSA) Milan - March 29 – Some 80% of Italian 15-year-olds consume alcohol, according to a new report that studies the behavior and lives of 11, 13 and 15-year old Italians. Some 85% of Italian adolescents considers themselves to be in good health, though many say they suffer some sort of health issue on a daily basis, such as a headache, a stomach ache, or insomnia, according to the Studio Hbsc-Italia 2010 report. The results were obtained distributing some 75,000 questionnaires to students in 3,723 classes around Italy. Alcohol consumption increases with age, with some 64% of 11-year-old children stating they don't drink and only a fifth of 15-year-olds saying they don't. The frequency of alcohol consumption also increases with age, with 4% of 11-year-olds stating they drink it on a weekly basis, whilst more than 25% of 15-year-olds say they drink it at least once a week.
